This volume constitutes the proceedings of the 1960 International Congress
for Logic, Methodology and Philosophy of Science. The Congress was held
a t Stanford University, Stanford, California, from August 24 to September
2, 1960, under the auspices of the Division of Logic, Methodology and Phi-
losophy of Science of the International Union of History and Philosophy of
Science. The 63 papers are the texts of the addresses given by invitation of
the Program Committee. These papers fall in one of two categories: invited
addresses and contributions to symposia. Six of the papers were read in
absentia. These are the papers by P. Bernays, A. Froda, J. Kotarbidska,
T. Kotarbihski, W. Schwabhauser, and R. Stone.
